Trillium Lakelands District School Board updated trustees on the future plans for their  Adult and Alternate Education Centre sites at Tuesday’s board meeting.

Trustees were told that due to a change in funding which began in 2016,  four of the sites including Huntsville, Bracebridge, Gravenhurst, and Fenelon Falls will move programs into their closest secondary school.

The Board says this is considered a program relocation where the same services and program will be provided to students attending the AAEC’s.

There will be site visits and discussions with secondary school principals to help facilitate a smooth transition for staff and students.

In the meantime, school board administration are reviewing similar successful transitions to secondary schools in other school districts in the province.
