Arena Project Moves Forward
The new arena and community centre in Bracebridge now has an architect.
During the last Bracebridge General Committee meeting, councillors agreed to award the contract to a company called MJMA at a cost of $468,000.
Councillors also heard the project is currently keeping to its timeline. If all goes according to plan it should be opened by August of 2022.
Councillors also heard that funding has recently become available via the provincial government which could prove a vital component in moving the project forward. Mayor Graydon Smith said the Town has done a tremendous amount of work to get the project ready when funding was available.
“That door is now open,” said Smith.
There are many specifics of the project that still need to be ironed out, including whether it's constructed in one phase or several.
