Bracebridge Begins Process Of Distributing Flood Donations
The Town of Bracebridge is establishing a committee to hand out the donations they received during the recent flood disaster.
During the latest general committee meeting, councillors agreed that staff should recruit members for the 2019 Flood Relief Committee from the Rotary Club of Bracebridge, the Bracebridge Lions Club and other similar organizations.
It’s estimated that during the flooding over 1,000 properties were impacted in Bracebridge alone and several access routes were cut-off, some for several days.
In total, the Town collected some $46,394 in donations. Some of the largest donations included $10,000 from the Bracebridge Lions Club, Rotary Club of Bracebridge and TC Energy.
Those affected by the flooding could register through the Canadian Red Cross and thus far some 81 properties have registered
Registrations remain open and Town staff is working with the Canadian Red Cross to determine the appropriate time to close registrations.
