Bracebridge Considers Closing Wellington Street North
The Town of Bracebridge is debating whether they should close down Wellington Street North for good.
Last month a large truck travelling on the road snagged overhead wires knocking out power to 5,000 people.
During their latest general committee meeting, councillors agreed that the Public Works Department should look at traffic control measures to limit large vehicles travelling on the street. However, several suggested they should also look at closing the road entirely and creating a cul-de-sac or a parkette.
Staff were asked to prepare a report and Coun. Barb McMurray said they also needed to consult the public before they made any final decision on closing the road.
