Bracebridge Considers Making Roundabouts Commonplace
Bracebridge councillor Mark Quemby said he wants the Town to include roundabouts as part of its new municipal servicing bylaw update.
Quemby is a frequent advocate for roundabouts and he pointed out that Bracebridge’s first and only roundabout at the intersection of Taylor Road and Cedar Lane has been quite successful.
He said they’re cheaper, more environmentally sensitive and they continue to work even during power outages.
Councillor Archie Buie cautioned that roundabouts can cause problems for the visually impaired. He said the audible signals that are now being installed at all new intersections cannot be installed at roundabouts because they have no traffic signals.
