Bracebridge Considers Moving The Date For Canada Day Fireworks
The Rotary Club is considering moving the date of the Canada Day fireworks in Bracebridge.
The event is held on Canada Day and typically draws huge crowds to Bracebridge Bay. However, the Rotary Club is currently considering moving the day of the freworks to the first Saturday after Canada Day.
It’s thought that when Canada Day falls mid-week, most spectators head home when the fireworks are over. If it were held on a Saturday it could send more people to downtown businesses afterwards.
During their last meeting, Bracebridge council heard that the Rotary Club has taken the idea to the Bracebridge BIA for their input.
Coun. Rick Maloney suggested it would be wise for Town council to take some type of position on the potential date change as well.
