Bracebridge Councilors Nix Overnight Construction Work
Bracebridge councilors gave the thumbs down to overnight work downtown during their latest general committee meeting.
The Canada Post building on Manitoba Street needs drilling work done in the basement. The contractor asked council if they can use an outdoor diesel generator through the night to get it done.
Councilor Don Smith said the same thing had been allowed at this site before and he'd heard numerous complaints from neighbours as a result.
Several councilors had similar comments and said they didn’t want the work going on all night. They also said the contractor should do more to keep the neighbours informed on what’s going on and what they can expect in terms of noise.
The Town Clerk was asked to talk to the contractor and come back to council with her report.
