Bracebridge Freezes Development Charges in 2019
The Town of Bracebridge decided to keep their development rates frozen for 2019 during their most recent general committee meeting.
The Town’s development charges have now been frozen for several years in an effort to bolster commercial and residential development.
Some councillors have expressed concerns at the potential lost revenue for the Town resulting from the freeze. Staff indicated that somewhere between $14,000 and $17,000 would be made in revenue if they increased the development charges to current averages.
While they admitted that they would have more money in reserves if the charges were increased, staff said it was impossible to say how much development would be deterred by the fee increase.
The charges are set for review again in 2019.
