Bracebridge Getting Serious About Fireworks
The Town of Bracebridge is getting serious about the fire risk posed by fireworks.
During their latest meeting, Town councillors agreed that fireworks will now be considered the same as outdoor fires when it comes to municipal bylaws.
The move effectively prohibits the use of fireworks during a total fire ban. Previously fireworks had fallen under the rules that govern noise complaints.
The bylaw department said they'd been contacted by the Fire Chief who had concerns about allowing fireworks during a fire ban.
There was some question about special events but the bylaw department said that special exemptions can be made for events like the Canada Day fireworks.
