Bracebridge Mayor Clarifies Position On Influx Of Seasonal Residents
Bracebridge Mayor Graydon Smith apologized to area residents for possibly fueling their stress after reports of his conversation with Premier Doug Ford made local media.
The reports centered on his concern that seasonal residents were coming north to ride out the pandemic, putting a strain on local infrastructure.
Yesterday, Smith made it clear that while he was concerned about the capabilities of our local health care infrastructure, he was not pointing fingers or assigning blame and he is here for anyone, whether they have been in the area for 100 years, 10 years or 10 minutes.
Smith was concerned that his actions may be signaling to some residents that is was okay to shut people out or indicate they were unwelcome in the region.
