Bracebridge Moves Closer To Building New Arena/Library Complex
Bracebridge Council took another step in the long journey to create a new arena/library complex this week.
On Wednesday, Bracebridge council appointed three of their own councilors to be part of Multi-Use Community Centre Project Steering Committee. The mayor will also join the three councillors as they provide input and monitor the creation of the new facility on Salmon Ave.
The creation of the committee is step eight in a 12 step process. Cindy O’Regan, the Town’s director of recreation said a specific timeline can’t be provided until they get further along in their pursuit of funding from the province and the federal government.
Mayor Graydon Smith said Town representatives have met with the Minister of Sport, Tourism and Culture twice in the past few months and are optimistic that funding could be on the horizon.
In addition to the creation of the arena/library/community hall/gymnasium complex, the Town is currently working towards the extension of Salmon Avenue to connect with Highway 118 West.
