Bracebridge Moves To Replace Black Bridge
The Town of Bracebridge is taking the first steps towards a $2.6 million replacement of the Black Bridge on Matthiasville Road.
During their last meeting, councillors agreed to award engineering services for the project to Planmac Engineering Inc. at a cost of roughly $107,000.
The Black Bridge is a through-truss steel bridge that was constructed in about 1922. A bridge inspection in 2016 concluded the Black Bridge had reached the end of its useful service life and should be replaced.
The Town’s applying to the province to recoup up to $2.1 million for the project but Town staff said they haven't received any word back on their application yet.
