Bracebridge One Step Closer To New Arena/Library
Bracebridge councilors took the next step on the road towards a new arena and library complex last week.
During their general committee meeting, Bracebridge council agreed to hire a firm to conduct an environmental assessment for the planned extension of Salmon Avenue. The contract was approved at $20,000 and the firm will look at connecting Salmon Avenue, which is set to be the new site of the arena and library complex, with Highway 118 at West Mall Road.
The extension of the road itself is expected to cost somewhere in the neighbourhood of $1.5 million.
The environmental assessment is stage six of an 11 stage process to construct a new arena and library.
Walt Schmid, the town’s director of public works, said if all goes according to plan they expect to enter phase seven - the actual construction of the new road - by year’s end.
