Bracebridge Ponders Building Pump Track
Bracebridge could be the proud owners of a new pump track if an idea put forward by the mayor gains traction.
During Tuesday’s Bracebridge general committee meeting, Mayor Graydon Smith said these so-called pump tracks have been taking off in popularity around the globe. A pump track is a type of off-road terrain for cyclists that consists of a circuit of banked turns and features designed to be ridden completely by riders pumping, or creating momentum by up and down body movements.
The tracks are considered relatively inexpensive to build and easy to maintain. Smith said it would be something largely for entertaining the children in the community.
There are plenty of capital projects on the town’s docket, Smith acknowledged, but he said he wanted to put forward the idea in hopes of future conversation.
