Bracebridge Roads To Be Repaired & Designed For Future Flooding
Work is now underway on the monumental job of cleanup and repair following the recent flooding in Bracebridge.
During the latest Town council meeting, councillors heard there is considerable work needed on some roads to repair the damage done and prepare the road for future flooding.
On Fraserburg Road council heard the roadway must now be repaired and built up to withstand future flooding. Work on that road is expected to be completed by the fall of 2019.
Santa’s Village Road and Beaumont Drive on the Muskoka River were both extensively damaged by the flooding. Both were also set to be repaired this year before the flooding took place and that work will proceed this year. However, council heard that some of the equipment used to repair flood damage had also further damaged the roads and new considerations for damage repair and flood mitigation will need to be taken into consideration.
Coun. Don Smith questioned whether there would be a chance for public input on the projects but he was told that due to the time constraints and the amount of work that needed to be done in the next few months no public meetings were planning.
He was advised that anyone with questions or concerns should contact their local council representative.
