Community Hub To Help Fill The Gap
Town Councillor Jo Morphy announced details about Gravenhurst Against Poverty’s proposed new multi-purpose community hub which will be located in the Town’s downtown core.
Speaking at Tuesday’s council meeting, Morphy indicated the community hub will have a young adult centre and will be in the 4,200 square foot building facing Sharp Street across from the Opera House.
Councillor Morphy says, “We’re most excited for the young people of Gravenhurst to have a space to call their own, a place where they can be supported by their peers and trusted mentors to develop their interests and learn new skills.”
According to Councillor Morphy, Gravenhurst Against Poverty is asking the community to pitch in; whether it’s volunteering, interior finishing skills, young adult programs to teach, or ideas to offer.
Councillor Penny Varney offered to do a jewelry-making class and said that the Arts at the Albion could do a class as well.
