Conservative Nominee Hopeful Says She Has A Plan To Help Mitigate Flooding
Holly Thompson who is in the running for the nomination of the Parry Sound-Muskoka Conservative party says she has a plan to help reduce flooding in the region.
Thompson says sandbag depots need to be set up and ready to go as well as consistent and frequent water monitoring. Thompson says the MNRF should be using up to date data and satellite imagery as the basis for flood modelling rather than data that is several decades old. Existing infrastructure and how it impacts flooding needs to factored into a plan that all level of governments can act on.
The plan should consider the safety of constituents in Parry Sound Muskoka, she said.
