Construction Project Goes Half a Million Over Budget
The cost of the repair job on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge has jumped yet again.
During Monday evening’s District council meeting, councilors agreed to pony up another $536,000 for the extensive road repair project.
Following multiple cost increases, the full cost of the project is now pegged at $5.8 million, more than $1 million over the original contract price.
According to the contractor, the unexpected increases were due to unknown geotechnical conditions and utility conflicts.
District councilors suggested that future projects of this nature require more investigation to avoid similar problems.
