Saleem Hall, director of YMCA Simcoe/Muskoka, encouraged Councillors to participate in their annual Move to Give Campaign, at yesterday's Huntsville General Committee meeting, telling them, “I’m offering you an opportunity to engage in the community.”

The goal of the June 7th event is to help raise $75,000 across Simcoe/Muskoka, “to help those most in need,” said Hall. So far, the event has raised 5% of their goal for the region, at $3745.

The YMCA helps with areas including employment, mental health, literacy, and people who are having a hard time in other areas too, like wanting to send their kids to summer camp.

“It’s been a tough year for people,” said Hall, adding, “Paramedics, first responders, fire fighters, and frontline services will be there.”

Hall said everyone is welcome to participate, “to engage in the community from the perspective of a non-profit.”

Deputy Mayor, Nancy Alcock, said she would drop in. And Mayor, Karin Terziano, who participated last year, said, “I will be back again this year,” and encouraged Council members to participate, adding, “Some of us…maybe all of us will see you on the 7th.”
