The District of Muskoka will open two new public access water taps in Gravenhurst, creating a total of 4 locations for the public to access free of charge for safe drinking water in town.  The two new taps will be installed in the next few weeks at Sagamo Pumping Station, 235 Steamship Bay Road and Fairview Elevated Tower, 9 Pineridge Gate.  Additional taps will help ensure that clean, safe water is available and easily accessible to all residents and visitors.

Fred Jahn, Commissioner of Engineering and Public Works says the District received input from the community that confirmed additional taps are required to meet the needs in Gravenhurst.”

The assessment of public access water needs in Gravenhurst was initiated earlier this spring, following the removal of a public access water tap from Wapaska Drive last August.   It was determined that the tap posed a potential contamination hazard.
