District Cracking Down On Subdivisions
The District is cracking down on timelines when it comes to subdivisions and condos.
Council heard recently that of the 48 subdivision and condominium projects currently approved in Muskoka, 44 per cent were approved for construction more than 10 years ago.
In an effort to speed up development and make sure there's still sufficient carrying capacity for the projects to proceed, District council agreed to impose new 10-year time limits on subdivision and condominium approval.
Under the rules, if no progress is made on the plans and they don't meet District criteria then the files will be closed after 10 years.
