There will be no more tax breaks for those in Muskoka with vacant land.

The District of Muskoka recently announced they are phasing out the vacant and excess land tax reduction program.

The phase-out will occur over the next two years. As a result, the tax rate reduction for vacant and excess land will drop to 15 percent from 30 percent in 2020, and then be fully eliminated in 2021.

In 2018 Muskoka District council voted to eliminate a similar tax reduction for vacant units.
