District Hopes To Have A Detailed Floodplain Map By The End Of 2019
A comprehensive map of the District’s floodplains is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
During a recent District Community and Planning Services Committee meeting, councillors heard that District floodplain mapping is approximately 60 to 70 percent complete. Staff expect the mapping to be finished by the end of 2019, on time and on budget.
Staff said they also are also developing an online survey where the public can upload pictures of the flood damage they experienced during the 2019 flood for review by consultants.
Once the mapping work has concluded, a communications plan will be rolled out and will include an open house to share the data with the community.
