District Starting Water Quality Studies At Area Lakes
The District of Muskoka announced that it has start five new water quality lake studies across Muskoka.
The District has retained environmental sciences consultants and experts in community consultation to provide recommendations and actions that can be taken by those who live or work on or near the lakes, anyone who uses the lakes for recreational purposes, and other, to ensure water quality can be protected and enhanced.
The lakes being studied include Bass Lake in Gravenhurst, Echo Lake in Lake of Bays, Leonard Lake, Three Mile Lake and Stewart Lake in Muskoka Lakes Twp.
The study will help determine why the water quality of a lake may be vulnerable and determine which causes are affecting water quality like algae blooms.
The District says public meetings will take place for each lake during the last two weeks of April 2021. For the schedule, follow this link: https://www.muskoka.on.ca/en/news/protecting-muskoka-s-vulnerable-lakes-five-new-causation-studies-launched-in-muskoka.aspx
