District Welcomes New Commissioner of Health Services
The District of Muskoka is increasing their reach in the local health services area by hiring a new Commissioner of Health Services.
During this week’s District council meeting, Norm Barrette was officially announced as the first successful candidate to take up the position.
According to District staff, more than half of the District’s staff work in the healthcare field including long-term care, paramedic services and health planning, which will now be aligned under the new Health Services department.
“The District’s role in health care service delivery and planning has expanded and council is very pleased to have Norm’s leadership in place to guide the new department,” said John Klinck, District Chair.
Barrette, who was previously employed with the Municipality of York, will be responsible for the strategic leadership, management, and administration of the Health Services department.
