The Eclipse “Walk with Light” event has been approved for the use of Muskoka Heritage Place (MHP) for another year, by the Huntsville General Committee, at the meeting on July 27, 2022.

The event was first held inside the MHP, in November last year, and included a night walk at the Rotary Village Station, at 100 Forbes Hill Drive, and live entertainment, food, music and thousands of interactive lights that responded to sounds created by visitors.

The 2022-2023 agreement includes $34,310 in discounted partnership rental rates being waived by Town Council, along with $6,500 that will be paid by the Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce.

54.3% of participants in the 2021 Eclipse event were non-residents, so the goal of bringing more people to the community during the winter – non-tourism season – was successful.

Jillian Jordan, manager of MHP, said, “The canopy of lights will exist this year and can be used for other events.” She adds growth as being an ongoing goal, with the hopes to “engage private enterprises and sponsorships, vendors, and larger scale events, such as getting married or parties.”
