Feds Offer Up To $100,000 in Grants To Women Entrepreneurs
The Bracebridge Chamber of Commerce is encouraging business women to explore the Federal Government’s new Women Entrepreneurship Fund announced in the Budget.
The Government says full and equal participation of women in the economy is essential to Canada's competitiveness. Current female entrepreneurs face unique barriers as they move along the business cycle. As a result, women own fewer than 16% of businesses and are underrepresented in the economy.
As part of the Strategy, the Government is making funding available directly to women entrepreneurs through the Women Entrepreneurship Fund.
The fund is for businesses that have operated for at least 2 years, for up to $100,000 in grant funding per project, at up to 80% or 90% of costs, for projects lasting up to 12 months and that start in late winter.
