Fire Ban in Algonquin Highlands, Danger Rating High in Almaguin Highlands
More fire bans and warnings are coming into effect as the warm, dry weather continues.
The Algonquin Highlands fire services have issued a total Burn Ban, meaning that no burning for any reason is allowed at any time. This includes the usage of incinerators or fireworks.
In the Almaguin Highlands, the current fire rating is at High. That means no daytime burning or fireworks between ten in the morning and six in the evening. Campfires are allowed afterwards, though anyone having a campfire should keep it well contained, supervised, and should check with local bylaws and regulations.
The District of Muskoka altogether is also under a total fire ban. Localities affected include Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Muskoka Lakes, Lake of Bays and Georgian Bay.
