Food Truck Issue Deferred Until The Fall
Huntsville Council decided to revisit the food truck issue in fall after hearing from staff during Monday’s electronic town council meeting.
Staff provided a report that was requested in the April council meeting.
The current by law allows for one refreshment vehicle per property. The provisions however, state the by-law does not apply when operating on the premises of a restaurant. Staff told councilors the intention of that provision was for a restaurant to have a food truck on their property, for support to that restaurant, and not to exempt any refreshment vehicle that is operating on the same premises.
Staff acknowledged that their policy on food trucks needs revision, but said that as the season is already under way, they would come back to council in the fall, and look at the whole issue.
