Ford Backtracks on Bala Falls
According to reports in the Toronto Star, Premier Doug Ford is backtracking on his promise to cancel the Hydro Electric project in Bala.
Ford is quoted as saying that "would cost taxpayers an absolute fortune” to cancel the project at this stage and leave a huge hole in the ground.
Ford said canceling the project could cost up to $100 million.
Ford made a campaign stop at the picturesque falls before the election, and promised residents that he would stop the project from going forward.
The announcement was made this morning by Premier Ford in Milton. But according to members of the Save The Bala Falls group, they will continue to hold Ford's feet to the fire on the issue, hoping that he doesn't break his promise.
