Ford Warns Lockdowns Are A Possibility If COVID-19 Numbers Don't Go Down
This afternoon Premier Doug Ford warned that if actions are not changed the province could lose control of the pandemic saying the new modelling is alarming. The province is on track to have 6500 new cases a day, which could overwhelm the healthcare system.
He called on residents to stay home, except to go to work or buy groceries.
Health Minister Christine Elliott announced new measures that moved municipalities that are experiencing high growth in infections to RED or control which limits how many people that can attend public events, restaurants, meeting spaces and sports and recreational facilities.
The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit remains in YELLOW or Protect mainly due to case counts in Simcoe County.
Ford also new measures including the possibility of further lockdowns in hot spots are a possibility if the numbers don’t come down.
