Future Of Bracebridge Festivals In Doubt
Bracebridge general committee received an update on the status of Town’s festivals and events that have been affected by COVID-19.
During the most recent general committee meeting, councillors heard a wide-ranging update on COVID-19, which included the fact that the Bracebridge Farmers Market plans to open on June 6th. The Market will only be used by food vendors, as part of a plan worked out in conjunction with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.
There was also some discussion about the future of grants for events and festivals. Cheryl Kelly, the director of planning and development, said that while most events scheduled for the summer have now been cancelled, none of the organizations have requested their money to be returned. Kelly said some are optimistic that they can hold their event next year and use the funding at that time.
Councillors heard they can expect a staff report on the status of the town’s festivals and events in mid-June.
