Golf Course Causes Concern Over Grass Cutting
A Bracebridge golf course is taking some heat for cutting the grass too early.
During the most recent Bracebridge general committee meeting, council approved a noise bylaw exemption from South Muskoka Golf and Curling Club to cut the grass at 6 am for the rest of the season.
In a letter to council, course representatives said 6 am is a standard time for grass cutting on golf course but they are aware that the town had received a number of complaints on the issue.
Coun. Barb McMurray said 6 am was simply too early for grass cutting to start but the majority of council favoured the exemption..
Coun. Rick Maloney wondered aloud whether the complaints were from multiple sources or the same person, and Mayor Graydon Smith called the exemption a no-brainer.
“I think I heard a proverb once that he who lives next to a golf course should expect to hear a mower,” said Smith.
