Gravenhurst Raising Development Charges To Get Inline With Other Municipalities
The Town of Gravenhurst has approved a new development charges by-law.
The by-law includes a phased-in implementation that will gradually bring Gravenhurst rates up to comparative development charge rates of Bracebridge and Huntsville over a five-year period carrying through to the end of 2024. Commercial and industrial development charges will remain at zero.
The charges are levied against new developments to pay for the increased capital costs related to the provision of such municipal services as library, parks and recreation, general government, municipal parking, fire protection and services related to public works, and roads and related services.
The updated by-law will apply to all new residential development and commercial accommodation in Gravenhurst.
