Health Unit Says The Requirement To Wear Facemasks Will Use A Softer Approach
Reaction was swift and damning on social media over the announcement by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit yesterday, that facemasks would be mandatory in Muskoka and the public will be required to wear masks when in indoors in public spaces.
The announcement made by the Health Unit, under the Provincial Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, requires masks to be worn when entering businesses, organizations and public transit systems in Muskoka starting this Monday.
The announcement was greeted with questions from some retailers who wondered who would be responsible to enforce the new rules.
However, the health unit later said they would be taking a softer approach with instructions for business to post signs requiring face coverings, but no requirement to turn away customers who refuse.
