Huntsville BIA asks to put umbrellas in newly renovated Kent Park
Yesterday, during Huntsville’s town council meeting, staff reported that a request had been received from the Downtown Huntsville BIA asking permission to purchase, maintain and install umbrellas in Kent park.
The umbrellas would be located at the 3 seating areas, and the BIA would develop a plan to set up and remove the them on a daily basis. The BIA would also remove the umbrellas in cases of unexpected high winds or other weather.
Councillor Stone said it was a wonderful gesture on behalf of the BIA, and Councillor Withey asked if any thought has been given to purchase a larger tree that would provide shade and he said that a readily available 20 foot maple or oak tree for under $1000. The Town would just have to have a hole ready for planting.
Council approved the motion for the BIA to purchase the umbrellas.
