During Monday’s town council meeting in Huntsville, councilors heard that Alison Turnbull, principal at Huntsville High School had submitted a request to the Town to paint the crosswalk connecting the Canada Summit Center to Huntsville High School in the colours representing Pride and the progressive pride flag. Town council is proud to affirm its commitment to diversity and inclusion and directed staff to make the crosswalk with the requested signage in honour of 2022 Pride Month celebrations. The motion was passed.

Council also directed staff to work collaboratively with Huntsville High Schools Sexuality and Gender Acceptance Student group and other community partners, to develop plans and budgets for the Pride celebrations in June of 2023.

The cost of the permanent paint would be about $20,000, but other options would be looked at in regards to the road requirements.
