Huntsville Moves Ahead With Crosswalk & Sidewalks At Main & Younge
The Town of Huntsville will be taking $85,000 from the Public Works Capital Reserves to complete the funding for a sidewalk/crosswalk project at Main St. and Yonge St. after a special council meeting was held on October 1.
The total cost of the work is $230,000 with $100,000 being funded through a COVID-19 Local Government Grant, and another $45,000 being provided by the District of Muskoka specifically for Main Street work being done.
Because this reserve funding would be a budget deviation, the idea of delaying the project until 2022 was discussed.
However, Director of Operations & Protective Services Steve Hernen told council that if they wait until next year to complete the project, they could lose the grant funding from the province and the district.
Councillors voted to approve the use of reserve funding in order to complete the project this year.
