Huntsville Passes New Exotic Pet Bylaw
During Huntsville’s town council meeting on Tuesday, the Town’s exotic pet by-law was passed.
Prohibited animals include skunks, minks, zebras, walruses & sea lions, apes & monkeys, elephants, venomous snakes & pythons as well as eagles and other birds of prey.
Exemptions can be made for veterinary hospitals, wildlife sanctuaries, pounds or shelters, and farm operations.
To initiate an exception to the pet by-law, an application must be submitted to the town. The application will then be considered at the next Development Services Committee meeting agenda. The applicant will also have the opportunity to plead their case at that time.
A full list of permissible and non-permissible animals can be obtained from the towns web site.
