Huntsville Plans To Upgrade Lighting In Municipal Buildings
Huntsville’s main properties will be switching to LED lighting in order to save energy costs. This areas include the Huntsville Civic Centre, Madill yard, and the entire Summit Centre.
LEDS are assumed to last longer and use less energy.
Facilities Manager at the town of Huntsville, Pete Kingshott says that last year they switched to Led lighting in the Algonquin Theatre and they have not needed to change them since. Usually when they change lights in the other community centers they seem to burn out right away, he told councilors.
The net cost will be roughly $300,000 however they hope it will decrease costs in the long term. All costs will be taken out of the federal gas tax reserve account.
