Huntsville To Keep Summit Centre And Community Halls Closed For Time Being
During Huntsville’s town council meeting on Monday, town staff reported on the status of community halls. Due to the new restrictions by the province limiting gatherings to 10 inside, staff recommended that all unstaffed halls not be opened.
The Port Sydney, Utterson, and Aspdin Community halls, along with the Active Living Center were closed on March 16th.
Staff reported that once restrictions are changed they could look at a phased in approach to re-opening these halls.
Staff told council that the Active Living Centre may been able to re-open, however, since it is being utilized for the Huntsville COVID-19 assessment centre, it will not be open to the public at this time.
Staff says they will continue to monitor the Health units direction, and should the pandemic begin to subside, further consideration will be given to open these halls.
