Local Lacrosse Referee Allegedly Assaulted by Coach
A fight between a local lacrosse referee and a coach has resulted in charges. Police were called to Rotary Place in Orillia on Friday night for an assault—there they found Bracebridge resident Gord Brown, who was bleeding as a result of an alleged fight. Brown was admitted to hospital the same evening, and was home by 2am. He was back supervising at the arena again this morning. Brown says that lacrosse is a fast-paced and amazing game, and that this kind of behaviour has no place in lacrosse. He says that he wants parents, players and coaches to know that. Police have charged Dwayne Palomaki, 47, with assault causing bodily harm. His court date is set for July 23.
