Main Street Redevelopment Delayed Until 2021
During Monday night's council meeting in Huntsville, Mark Misko, Director of Engineering & Transportation for the District of Muskoka, and Steve Hernen, Director of Operations & Protective Services, Town of Huntsville, presented an update on the Main Street Streetscape Project. Director Misko advised that the timelines are now too tight for the 4 companies that are still in the running. He advised that if they were to start construction in 2020, it would not start until mid summer, and would take 2-3 years to complete. Director Misko also advised that additional design time is required. Director Hernen commented that with the additional time, they may be able to secure additional funding through the federal government to help with the project. Director Misko advised the majority of the project is now slated to start in the spring of 2021, and be completed before winter of 2021. He added that there may be final asphalt work and landscaping to be finished in 2022.
