Meghan Shannon Seeking Conservative Nomination
The race to replace MP Tony Clement as the next candidate for the Conservative Party is heating up with the announcement from MacTier native Meghan Shannon that she intends to seek the nomination.
Shannon announced her nomination today, saying she returning home to seek the Conservative Party of Canada Nomination for Parry Sound - Muskoka.
Shannon works for a non profit that advocates for at risk youth in the Kitchener area.
She says she opposes the Liberal Government’s plan to implement a carbon tax that would have a disproportionately negative financial impact on lower-income Canadians and senior citizens. She says Justin Trudeau's Liberals' policies are deeply rooted in an ideology that inhibits freedom of thought and expression and if she was given the opportunity she would advocate for individuals' freedom of conscience, religion, and personal choice of how they wish to live their life.
Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison has also indicated that he is exploring the idea of seeking the nomination.
