Miller Says Teachers Strike Was Unacceptable
Yesterday, Norm Miller, MPP for Parry Sound Muskoka released a statement in regards to the teachers strikes that took place in the region. Miller said that it is unacceptable that union leaders would ramp up strike action and make families across the province scramble for childcare. “Parents are very frustrated,” he said.
Miller says the government Support for Parents initiative was launched to help families pay for unexpected childcare costs and the uptake for initiative speaks volumes to the level of uncertainty union-led strike action causes.
Miller said that the “government will continue to focus on reaching voluntary agreements with the teachers' unions, so Ontario students stay in class where they belong.”
