More Childcare Spaces Coming to Muskoka
More than 100 new child care spots will soon become available in Muskoka, District council heard during their Monday night meeting.
The majority of those spaces will come as part of a massive expansion to Macaulay Tree House next to their existing location on Granite Bluff Trail in Bracebridge. Council agreed to enter into a 10 year land lease to help further the project, which will result in 10 new spaces for infants, 15 for toddlers and 48 for preschool aged children.
The new project is being paid for as part of a Ministry of Education initiative that aims to create 100,000 new licensed child care spaces across Ontario. Under that same funding, 15 new child care spaces are set to become available in Gravenhurst and an additional 54 new school-based spaces will open up in Glen Orchard.
Under the terms of the agreement, the new Macaulay Tree House must be opened by the end of 2020.
