Muskoka Lakes Calls For Action On Watershed Management Plan
Muskoka Lakes Council wants the District to take more action when it comes to the local watershed.
Earlier this month Muskoka Lakes council sent a request to the Premier of Ontario asking the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry to immediately retain a third-party consultant to complete an evaluation and adjustment of the Muskoka River Watershed Management Plan drawdown triggers and target spring operating levels.
In August 2018 the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks created the Muskoka Watershed Advisory Group. One of their mandates was to provide advice to the Minister regarding priority areas, issues to be addressed, and projects that could be undertaken in the Muskoka River watershed.
