New 683 area code coming to the region on Saturday

In response to the region's rising need for phone numbers, a new area code has been added to the area serving area code 705.
The region currently covered by area codes 705 and 249 in Ontario will add the new 683 area code on Saturday.
Consumers and businesses requesting new phone numbers after this date might get one with the new area code - ensuring that we will have enough numbers to meet demand for years to come.
