New Hospitals Plan Designed To Fail - Withey
During last night’s Town Council meeting in Huntsville, Councillor Withey raised the alarm on the proposed Capital Plan Development Task force recommendation to build new hospitals in Huntsville and Bracebridge.
The task force is expected to make their formal presentation to the Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) board when they meet on Oct 10th, but Councillor Withey advised Huntsville Town Council that there is no way our community will be able to afford 2 new hospital builds in both Bracebridge and Huntsville, and that it is a plan that is designed to fail. Councillor Withey told councilors that he felt that the tasks force’s decision will force Muskoka to revisit the one hospital model instead.
Councillor Withey stated that the task force has deliberated for over 2 years and spent $ 500,000 on coming to this decision.
Councillor Withey also advised that he felt the only feasible option would have been to renovate the existing sites on a schedule as needed.
Deputy Mayor Karin Terziano thanked Councillor Withey for his comments and advised that the upcoming meeting on Oct 10 is open to the public.
The meeting will take place at 4 pm in the board room of the South Muskoka Hospital.
