No Impacts From Sewage Spill At J W Marriott - Health Unit
Dr. Charles Gardner, the Medical Officer of Health for Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit confirmed that a sewage spill at the J W Marriot in Minnett has been “removed and there are no impacts to recreational, drinking water or land and there are no public health issues to be addressed,” after the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) said it was satisfied that that a Provincial Order was being complied with.
The Provincial Order was put in place in July after the resort experience a spill of effluent.
Michael DiCienzo of the JW Marriott says “The JW Marriott is cooperating 100% with the MECP and ownership takes this matter very seriously. We cannot stress enough that we care about the safe operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant, the guests and staff at the Resort and protecting the environment,” he said.
The District and Muskoka Lakes Township will continue to have regular communication with the parties involved to confirm that compliance is being maintained.
